Who we are.
Mandy Preece is the founder and creator of Being Rock which is a core product of hearing-u: a unique revisioning of listening.
Mandy began her professional career in legal publishing. As managing editor of an innovative publisher she was responsible for distance learning materials in many spheres from police training to the Open University. Understanding how to deliver impactful training in new ways was at the forefront of her work.
But life had other plans. The death of her parents transported her into volunteering at end of life. Being Rock grew from her experiences at the bedside which transformed her understanding of what it means to listen. She quickly realised that these skills could be transferred to any situation, including the workplace.
Her unique and experiential communications training was awarded the Princess Royal Training Awards for best practice in the workplace in 2017 and Mandy is an Alumni member.
Mandy was NHS Unsung Hero Volunteer of the Year 2019 and has sat on the NHS/Helpforce Steering Committee on expanding volunteering within the NHS.
She now delivers inspiring talks and training to a huge variety of organisations: from the business sector to the NHS and national charities. Her pro bono work supports many smaller charities. Her book, Being Rock, was published in 2020: http://viewbook.at/BeingRock
In her spare time she is either taking long walks with her family or hanging out in a coffee shop with friends or a book.
